Fire Cider

I love this stuff and am always very happy when I have made lots and have it stocked up in my cupboard!

Fire Cider

How Do I use it - well,  in salad dressings, splash into stir fries or take a tbsp every morning. Helps stimulate the digestive system and will warm you up on a cold day! It is pretty powerful, but utterly delicious!

1/2 cup fresh grated  ginger root

1/2 cup fresh grated horseradish root

1 medium organic onion chopped

10 cloves garlic crushed or chopped

2  red chillies  chopped

1  Lemon juice and zest

2 tbsp dried or fresh rosemary leaves

1 tbsp turmeric powder

1/4 tsp cayenne powder

Apple cider vinegar to cover all ingredients, about 3 litre bottles

1/4 cup  local honey or to taste – OR JUST LEAVE OUT

Prepare your roots, fruits, and herbs and place them in a large glass jar - I use two 2l Mason jar.

If you've never grated fresh horseradish, be prepared for a powerful sinus-opening experience!

Pour the apple cider vinegar in the jar until all of the ingredients are covered and the vinegar reaches the jar's top. Use a piece of natural parchment paper under the lid to keep the vinegar from touching the metal, or a plastic lid if you have one. Shake well.

Leave for at least a month and then, sieve out the solid bits and decant the liquid into bottles or smaller jars.
